We’re excited to announce that EMBA has secured approval to replace the E.M.P. Blast Bridge this year! 🎉

This isn’t just great news for mountain bikers, trail runners, and outdoor enthusiasts – it’s a big step forward for sustainability in Edmonton’s river valley. The original bridge crossed a sensitive wet area with a natural spring seep, leading to erosion, trail braiding, and the creation of unsanctioned bypasses as users tried to navigate the shifting terrain.
By replacing this structure, we’re protecting the natural ecosystem, reducing trail damage, and ensuring a safe and sustainable route for everyone.
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the local trail running community, and Do North Events with their upcoming 2027 World Triathlon Multisport Championships and this summer’s Do North Tri & Trail, which have all helped highlight the need for sustainable, multi-use trails.

What’s next? Stay tuned for updates on the project timeline, volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved as we work together to restore this critical section of trail!
Can you guess what our announcement next week will be? Stay Tuned!
